Shrek The Musical JR. follows an ogre named Shrek who has learned the hard way that “people hate the things they cannot understand.” For many years he has protected himself from the hurtful actions of those who are scared of him by living as a recluse in a cozy cesspit. One day, his peaceful swamp is disturbed by new tenants: fairytale misfits — including Pinocchio, the Ugly Duckling, the Wicked Witch, Peter Pan, the Three Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf — have been banished there by the villainous Lord Farquaad. In order to gain back his land, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to rescue the feisty princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a fierce dragon. Setting off with his faithful companion, Donkey, Shrek begins the journey of a lifetime filled with adventure, romance, and hilarity.
With music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, Shrek The Musical is based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the book Shrek by William Steig.
Public performances will be held at the BHS Auditorium on March 9-11 at 7pm and March 11 at 2pm. Tickets are available online at https://bhspc.ludus.com or in person the day of the performance thirty minutes before the show begins. All tickets are $5. The running time of the play is 60 minutes and will be performed without an intermission. This play is suitable for all ages.

Enjoy a screening of a classic movie preceded by delicious food from Indigo Coastal Shanty and an insightful talk about what makes the film a “must see.” The Lady Eve […]
Cinema Gourmet, Golden Isles Arts & Humanities’ popular series pairing delicious food with classic films, continues on Thursday March 16, 2023 with the 1941 screwball comedy, The Lady Eve, starring Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck. The film’s screening and discussion are paired with the culinary delights of Chef Judah Lynch and Indigo Coastal Shanty. The evening’s events begin with delicious food at 6:30 p.m.
It's no accident when wealthy Charles (Henry Fonda) falls for Jean (Barbara Stanwyck). Jean is a con artist with her sights set on Charles' fortune. Matters complicate when Jean starts falling for her mark. When Charles suspects Jean is a gold digger, he dumps her. Jean, fixated on revenge and still pining for the millionaire, devises a plan to get back in Charles' life. With love and payback on her mind, she re-introduces herself to Charles, this time as an aristocrat named Lady Eve Sidwich. The Lady Eve is a fast-paced battle of the sexes with numerous deceptions and character transformations. A career highlight for Preston Sturges, The Lady Eve benefits from Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda's sparkling chemistry -- and a script that inspired countless battle-of-the-sexes comedies.
Seating is limited for the food, talk and movie, so audience members are encouraged to purchase their tickets early. The deadline for buying tickets for The Lady Eve is midnight on Monday, March 13th. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by phone with a credit card or in person at the Ritz Theatre, Tuesdays through Fridays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Tickets may also be purchased securely online at www.goldenislesarts.org. Tickets for the talk and movie only may be purchased at the door the night of the screening for $7. The Ritz Theatre is located at 1530 Newcastle St. in downtown Brunswick. For more information, go to www.goldenislesarts.org or call (912) 262-6934.
