Georgia Artists With DisAbilities Opens First Friday
The 37th annual Georgia Artists with DisAbilities Exhibition of winners will be on display in the Wilcox Gallery in the Historic Ritz Theatre during the month of June. Sponsored by The Pilot Clubs of Metro Atlanta, the exhibit will open on First Friday June 2nd with an opening reception from 5 – 8 pm and will be on display through June 30, 2023.
The over 50 entries in the exhibit include paintings, photographs, clay pottery, textiles and other mediums. Brunswick is a part of the 8-city tour where the work has been shown at venues across the state. “The work is always outstanding and inspiring,” said, Heather Heath, Executive Director, “And the Penguin Project production of Disney’s The Lion King JR will also be running June 15-18 at the Ritz, so we are proud to be showcasing the talent of both visual artists and dramatic artists who have disabilities and showing that a disability does not hinder creativity.”
Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc. was founded in 1985 by the Pilot Clubs of Metro Atlanta and is supported by Georgia District Pilot Clubs. The mission of Georgia Artists with Disabilities is to provide avenues through which Georgia artists with disabilities can display their artistic accomplishments in all disciplines of the arts, and to create public awareness of the artistic skills these artists have developed by overcoming the obstacles of their disabilities.
