NATIONAL WATER DANCE AT MARY ROSS WATERFRONT PARK

April 23, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

On Saturday, April 23 at 4pm EST, Core Dance alongside members of the Brunswick, Georgia community will be joining with hundreds from around the United States, including Puerto Rico to dance together in celebration of the gift of water that we all share. Dancers from across the country will perform in the 5th Annual National Water Dance – site-specific dances at rivers, bays, lakes, oceans, or any water sites nearby – uniting to celebrate and take responsibility for protecting our water. Core Dance will be performing at Mary Ross Waterfront Park in Historic Downtown Brunswick. The event will also be Live-Streamed on Core Dance’s YouTube and Facebook Pages that can be found at www.coredance.org

National Water Dance is an artist-driven collective of dancers and educators confronting critical water issues facing the United States. Stretching from New York to Hawaii and from Alaska to Puerto Rico, simultaneous, site-specific dance performances are created and performed with movers of all ages and experience. Created and directed by Dale Andree, National Water Dance believes that our environment is the most pressing issue of this generation and as dancers we are using our bodies to create a community that reaches out for action.

The performance at Mary Ross Waterfront Park will take place within and around a temporary labyrinth designed by Jay Staley and built with community members and volunteers. With an eye to food justice, the labyrinth will be created using can goods collected through a Food Drive organized by Glynn Environmental Coalition to benefit America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia www.helpendhunger.org. Under the artistic direction of Sue Schroeder, The Phil Morrison Trio will join the artists of Core Dance and community participants in this shared performance experience.

In partnership with Glynn Environmental Coalition, Golden Isles Arts & Humanities, LoveSmart, Studio South Performing Arts Center, Brunswick Labyrinth Project and a growing list of community supporters, Core Dance seeks to build community by uniting arts and environmental organizations on the local, state, and national levels. Core Dance’s performance will take place as part of Brunswick’s Earth Day 2022 Celebration including:
