City of Brunswick Arbor Day Celebration
February 22 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The City of Brunswick’s Tree Board will celebrate this year’s Arbor Day by giving away native trees to City residents. The event is an effort to promote and maintain tree benefits and preserve tree canopy in the City. Among other activities, a city official will kick of the event on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Mary Ross Park from 9am-12pm. The City of Brunswick has been a Tree City USA community for 23 years.
Thanks to a recent Georgia ReLeaf grant from the Georgia Tree Council, the trees available are Holly, (lex); Franklin Tree, (Franklinia); Maple, (Acer); Snowbell, (Styrax); Persimmon, (Diospyros); Birch, (Betlua); White Fringe Tree, (Chonanthus): and more. The trees are available on a first come, first serve basis to City residents while supplies last (proof of city residency required, one per household). This marks the third year that the Tree Board has been awarded the Georgia ReLeaf grant to support the Arbor Day Tree Giveaway. Last year the Board gave away 75 small trees to City residents.
Other tree seedlings will also be available to Glynn County residents thanks to partners Keep Golden Isles Beautiful and Georgia Power Company. The event will also feature other local organizations that support local tree planting and preservation efforts in the community. Additionally, the City will be embarking on a Tree Resiliency Management Plan in the coming year.
