Cinema Gourmet: Unforgiven
March 17, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm$7 – $18
Cinema Gourmet, Golden Isles Arts & Humanities’ popular series pairing delicious food with classic films, continues on Thursday, March 17, 2022 with the 1992 revisionist Western, Unforgiven, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. The film’s screening and discussion are paired with the culinary delights of Chef Judah Lynch and Indigo Coastal Shanty. The evening’s events begin with delicious food at 6:30 p.m.
When prostitute Delilah Fitzgerald (Anna Thomson) is disfigured by a pair of cowboys in Big Whiskey, Wyoming, her fellow brothel workers post a reward for their murder, much to the displeasure of sheriff Little Bill Daggett (Gene Hackman), who doesn’t allow vigilantism in his town. Two groups of gunfighters, one led by aging former bandit William Munny (Clint Eastwood), the other by the florid English Bob (Richard Harris), come to collect the reward, clashing with each other and the sheriff. The winner of four Academy Awards including Best Picture, Unforgiven is considered by many to be the best Western film ever made even while shattering the mythology of the American West.
Cinema Gourmet will offer one more screening during the season: The Coen Brothers’ comedy Raising Arizona on April 14.
