The Queen Square by Old City Hall was renovated last month thanks to Brunswick’s Daughters of the American Revolution and Signature Squares. Volunteers from the Brunswick Job Corps worked to install plants and landscape the park in preparation for the new Liberty Tree. The original Liberty Tree, a northern Magnolia, had to be removed last year. It was planted back in 1906 by the DAR and was celebrated nationally with soil mailed from 49 states. In recognition, the DAR and Signature Squares waited for the 110 anniversary of the liberty tree to hold the dedication for the new northern Magnolia Liberty Tree. The ceremony was held Thursday, November 10th.
